"Hosting the first meet of the season is always enjoyable," stated head coach Jason-Lamont Jackson. "I get to see where the student-athletes are in terms of their level of fitness to start the season. Conference Championships are approximately 8 weeks away which is enough time to make any necessary adjustments after our first two competitions."
Virginia State University return the top junior Mouchette from last year's squad.
VSU finished last season in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) 2nd on the Men's side.
"For the men's cross country team the goal remains the same; to be competitive enough in late October get on the podium (Top 3 Teams) at the Conference Championships and bring some hardware back to Petersburg, said Jackson."
