Joyner-Kersee To Host Clinic In Bermuda

Jacqueline "Jackie" Joyner-Kersee will be in Bermuda on October 15th to be the guest speaker at the Bermuda Olympic Association’s 80th Anniversary Gala Dinner at the Fairmont Southampton.

Joyner-Kersee is an American retired track and field athlete, ranked among the all-time greatest athletes in the women's Heptathlon as well as in the Women's Long Jump. She won three Gold, one Silver, and two Bronze Olympic Medals, in those two events at four different Olympic Games. Sports Illustrated for Women magazine voted Joyner-Kersee the Greatest Female Athlete of the 20th century, just ahead of Babe Didrikson Zaharias.

Prior to the Gala Dinner Joyner-Kersee will host a Youth Sports Clinic from 11:45am – 1:30pm at the National Sports Center for ages 8 – 18.

Youngsters who attend the clinic will learn proper form and technique and receive valuable feedback from a world famous Olympian as she takes them through special drills.

After retiring as a competitive athlete, Joyner-Kersee has been involved with many philanthropic efforts and has joined the Board of Directors for USA Track & Field (USATF), the national governing body of the sport.

Joyner-Kersee is one of the most famous athletes to have overcome severe asthma.
