Bermuda’s Flora Duffy competed in the first SPAR Women’s 10km Challenge in Cape Town.
Duffy who has excelled in the sport of Xterra Racing tried her hand in a Road Race.
Most of South Africa’s top women runners took part in the race, which started outside the Cape Town Stadium and ended on Greenpoint Common.
The defending champion, Diana-Lebo Phalula, did not compete, because she was on her way to represent South Africa at the World Cross Country Championships in China, but her twin sister, Lebogang, who won the Durban and Johannesburg races last year, did take part and finished third.
South African Mapaseka Makhanya finished first with a time of 32:54, while a former Cape Town winner Rutendo Nyahora afinished second clocking 33:03.
Duffy recorded a top 10 finish in the event.
