IslandStats.com
Bermuda National Athletics Association President Donna Watson announced another All Female Event for 2014.

Watson said, “As you are aware we had the Women In Sports Expo last year with Lisa Leslie as our special guests. With that being such a huge event to put on each year we have decided to have the full expo every other year. What we will continue with will be the 5K Run/Walk and Girls Rock 1 Mile. We want to continue with the Women in Sport theme and encourage young Girls and Women to have an event every year. This is not just for Women in Sports but all Women of all ages to come out and participate.”

“We have added a different twist to this race. The race is for all women but we have added a few new categories which is mother/daughter combinations,” continued Watson.

Categories

• 1 mile run child/5K Walk
• 1 mile run child/5K Run
• 5K Walk adult or child combination
• 5K Run adult or child/5K Walk adult or child
• 5K Run adult or child combination

Watson continued, “All of these mother/daughter categories will receive a gift certificate for a hotel which they can use if they want for Mother's Day. We will be awarding monetary prizes to the top 3 women in the 5K run. There will be gift certificates for the top 3 Girls (Under 18) in the Girls Rock 1 Mile. We will be awarding a plaque to the company with the most participants. We will be awarding a monetary award to the National Governing Body with the most participants. We will be awarding a monetary award for the school with the most participants.”

“The participants can enter as an individual and also as part of a team. We are excited about this event as there has never been a race with this sort of twist and we feel it is a great mother daughter bonding event. We will have snacks and drink and a few booths set up at the end to discuss health issues and get your blood pressure taken etc and other informative information,” went on to say.

The event will take place Sunday April 27th @ 3:00pm so that you can attend your Church services in the morning and then come out and bond with other women in the afternoon. The 1st 400 to sign up will receive t-shirts, bags and goodies. Both races will start and finish at Argus as they are our title sponsor.

Sign up is on www.racedayworld.com or forms will be delivered to schools, companies, gyms and they can be dropped off at the BNAA office on Burnaby Hill.
