IslandStats.com
Sophomore Madison Granger, graduate student Sophia Ziemian and senior Dana Morin placed first, second and third, respectively, to guide Ashley Berry and her 28th-ranked Duke Women’s Cross Country team to a first-place finish at the Three Stripe Invitational in Cary, N.C. Duke scored 24 points to defeat Elon (39) and NC State (66).

Granger led Duke to the first-place finish after recording an 18:00.42 at the 5,000-meter WakeMed Soccer Complex Cross Country Course. Granger crossed the line 11 seconds ahead of second-place finisher and teammate Ziemian.

Ziemian’s start marked the third of the season for the Belchertown, Mass., native. Morin’s third-place finish is the second time this season she has placed in the top five.

Senior Berry earned a seventh-place finish, clocking a time of 19:05.04. Berry returned to action following an appearance at the ACC Championship a week earlier.

Freshmen Grace Chang and Gina Daniel placed 15th and 25th, respectively. Chang covered the course in a time of 19:27.80 while Daniel finished in a time of 21:10.30.
