One of the race directors Rose-Anna Hoey of the Partner Re Women's 5km Run and Walk has announced the event will take place on Sunday, October 6th.
Hoey said, “This is a very unique event as it is an All-Female Race, this is the 16th year.”
The PartnerRe Women’s 5K Run &Walk is presented by Mid-Atlantic Athletic Club (MAAC), sponsored by PartnerRe Ltd. and sanctioned by the Bermuda Track & Field Association (BTFA). The only all-female event includes a 5K race for women, a 5K walk and a 2K run for girls under 15. The goal is female fitness, health, safety and self-esteem—and all proceeds go annually to a cause that promotes these values,” concluded Hoey.
The day will get underway with a Junior 2km starting at 8.30am and the Women's 5km starting at 9:00am.
In 2012 Jennifer Alen won the race clocking a time of 19:27, however this year a new champion will be crowned as Alen is sideline through injury. Hilda Stoney finished second in 19:41, while Kristyn Robinson completed the course in a time of 19:55 to finish third.
Ashley Irby won the PartnerRe Women’s 2K Run, with a time of 6:42, Lynsey Palmer finished second in 6:43 and Page Bruton finished third in 7:02.
Clocking a time of 34:47, Winnelle Simons won the PartnerRe Women’s 5K Walk, Davina Dickinson was second in 34:52 and Sheena Young was third in 35:31.
