The Healthy Choice Weight Handicap 5K Road Race is fast approaching. The Run and Walk event, usually takes place in St. George’s on a Tuesday Evening has now been moved to Sunday July 8th.
The event will see competitors start on York Street, outside Somers Gardens, the competitors will run up Barrack Hill onto Cut Road, they will continue along Cut Road to Gates Fort, onto Barry Road and Coot Pond Road.
They with then make a left up Naval Tanks Hill, along Government Hill Road, turning a sharp left into Sapper Lane and along Old Military Road.
They will then turn right down Barrack Hill to York Street, finishing in King’s Square.
Alex Eve ran away from the field to record the victory in 2011 clocking 17:37, Davis Mwangi finished second clocking 19:23, while Chris Cabral finished third in a time of 19:24. Rose-Anna Mc Shane was the first female finisher clocking a time of 20:57 finishing 11th overall, meanwhile finishing 17th overall was Martine Brosius-Rothwel the second female to finish clocking 22:34, while Gemma O’Brien was the third female finisher with a time of 23:22 finishing 19th overall.
