Five times Bermuda Day Half Marathon Champion Chris Estwanik reflected on his five wins, indicating that this one was most definitely the most difficult.
“With home life having two kids really makes if a little tougher, my wife and I have balanced out being parents and still being able to train,” said Estwanik during an interview on the FM 89 Community Voices Radio Sports Show.
“From about mile 11, nine time winner Kavin Smith kept appearing and encouraging me to keep going, that is unique in racing, but that is what makes the day so special,” continued Estwanik.
Estwanik concluded, “Kavin Smith mentored me and I am just trying to do the same for the likes of Sean Trott, Lamont Marshall and Chase Smith, I am hoping they are learning something from me and if they do then it has all been worth the effort.”
