Chayse Smith and Vitoria Fiddick ran to victory in the 2012 Eye Institute 5K Classic in the East End.
The route saw the runners run around Cut Road twice, the first lap saw Smith involved in a battle with Stephen Allen and Gary Raynor, on the second lap Allen had taken the lead, but Smith was able to make his move and cross the line in a time of 15:46, while Allen finished second clocking 15:52 and Raynor finished third with a time of 15:58. Gideon Kigotho was fourth when he was clocked across the line in a time of 17:43 and Craig Rothwell rounded out the top five finishers with a time of 17:46.
Fiddick was the eighth runner to cross the line to take the Ladies title, she clocked a time of 19:05, while Rose-Anna Hoey the second female finisher finished ninth overall in a time of 19:13. Laura Wright’s time of 19:53 saw her finish as the third female finisher she was 12th overall, while Hilda Stoney finished 13th overall with a time of 20:08 and Vera Lima rounded out the top five female finishers finishing 21st overall with a time of 21:50.
Messiah Greaves won the 12 and Under Race with a time of 11:09, while Adam Larson finished second clocking 11:26 and Rudi Hammond finished third in a time of 12:02.
Clocking a time of 35:09 Caleb Jn. Pierre won the Walking Race, with Davina Dickinson finishing second with a time of 36:27 and Sheena Young finished third with a time of 36:58.
