Alexis Bean and her St. Johnís University Cross Country teammateís improved one spot from last yearís BIG EAST finish to place 13th at this yearís conference championship. All but two of the St. Johnís seven runners recorded personal-best 6K times at the Tom Sawyer State Park hosted event in Louisville, Ky.
Seniors Samantha Meyerhoff and Nicole Cocozza once again led the way for St. Johnís with season best performances. Meyerhoff placed 70th in the 138 person field with a time of 22:29.8 which was set at 6:02 mile pace. Cocozza crossed the finish line seconds later in 81st place with a time of 22:45.5.
Sophomore Chelsea Trant was the next St. Johnís runner to complete the race as she placed 101st with a time of 23:24.5. Michelle Duffy and Bean continued their consistency for the Red Storm as they rounded out the top-five finishing within 11 seconds of one another. Duffy finished first with a time of 23:51.5 as fellow junior teammate, Bean, clocked in at 24:02.1.
The final two St. Johnís finishers were sophomore Angela Jarvela who registered a time of 24:28.9 and senior Aryon Trujillo who ran a 24:47.4. These results totaled 416 points for St. Johnís which was seven points better than last yearís total.
