Outerbridge & Wharton Win Jay Donawa 5K

Ryan Outerbridge defended his Jay Donawa 5K Road Race title while Georgia Wharton claimed the female overall champion.

The race started and finished at Boaz Island Village having made it track towards Dockyard and back. It was a bit windy but overall a great community event.

Outerbridge was clocked across the line in a time of 16:52, with Kahzi Sealy finishing second overall with a time of 17:55 and Kanaz Tuzo was third stopping the clock in a time of 18:55.

Wharton crossed the line fifth overall clocking a time of 22:25, Vivian Curtis was the second female finisher and 6th overall in a time of 23:15 and Michelle Berkeley was the third female finisher and 8th overall stopping the clock in a time of 23:31.

In the walk with over 25 competitors Junior Watts was first across the line and Gilda Cann was the first female across the line.

BNAA Cross Country Series Standings

The Bermuda National Athletic Association’s 2018 Cross Country season came to an end with the running of the National Championships.

Today www.islandstats.com brings you the Cross Country Series overall Standings.

Jaeda Grant was crowned the Under 12 Girls Champion with 43 points, while Jace Donawa won the Under 12 Boys title with 32 points.

Jessie Marshall won the Under 17 Girls title with 27 points, with Ryan Outerbridge scoring 45 points to win the Under 17 Boys crown.

Omari Hart won the Men’s Masters title with 34 points and Deanna Didyk won the Women’s Masters title with 36 points.

BAC 5K Jingle Bell Road Race Round Up

Chris Estwanik made a winning return to the Road Running scene as he stormed to victory in the BAC 5K Jingle Bell race, while Martina Olcheski-Bell was crowned the Ladies champion.

Estwanik was clocked across the line in a time of 15:56, Sammy Degraff finished second 1:09 back clocking 17:05 and Johndell Cumberbatch finished third with a time of 17:13.

Olcheski-Bell crossed the line 19th overall with a time of 20:19, Suzanne Socki was the second female finisher and 29th overall with a time of 21:28 and Lucy Ching was the third female finisher and 30th overall with a time of 21:32.

BNAA National Cross Country Championships

The Bermuda National Athletics Association hosted their National Cross Country Championships at the Clearwater Beach for the first time.

Dage Minors was crowned the Men’s 20 – 39 Age Group National Champion after he was clocked across the line in a 5 Mile time of 30:49.33, Johndell Cumberbatch was crowned the 17 – 19 Men’s National Champion after he recorded a 3 Mile time of 18:51.96 and Ryan Outerbridge was crowned the 14 – 16 Men’s Age Group National Champion after he clocked a 3 Mile time of 18:53.56.

Rose-Anna Hoey was crowned the 20 – 39 Women’s Age Group National Champion after she covered the 3 Mile distance in a time of 21:47.69, Jessie Marshall won the 14 – 16 Women’s Age Group title when she clocked a 3 Mile time of 22:51.23 and Karen Smith clocked a 50 – 59 Women’s Age Group National Championship time of 22:43.17.

Jay Donawa 5K 2018 Road Race Announced

The Jay Donawa 5K Fun Road Race is set for Sunday, December 16th, with Junior Runners to begin at 8.00am, while Walkers and Adult Runners to begin at 8.30am.

A spokesperson said, “It’s that time of the year, with the second annual Jay Donawa 5K Fun Road Race.

“The entry fee for 16-years-old and under is $5 and 17-years-old and older is $20.00. Number and t-shirt collection for the first 100 and late registration is $25.00 will be held on Saturday, December 15th in the parking lot of St. James Church from 9.00am to 12.00pm.”

“Entry forms can be dropped off at Sportseller before Friday, December 14th at 4.00pm or register online.

“Adults and Walkers will start outside of Boaz Island Gas Station along Middle Road to Prison Officers Club, u-turn then left onto Craddock Road and then back to Malabar Field via Kitchener Road.

“Children will start outside of Boaz Island Gas Station along Middle Road right onto Craddock Road and then back to Malabar Field via Kitchener Road.

“Parking will be at Malabar Field across from Boaz Island Gas Station. All proceeds go toward the 2019 Sandys Parish Council’s Educational Scholarships.

“We are looking for volunteers to assist with marshaling and helping at the water stop; if interested, or with any questions, please contact Race Director Kemda Bean at s_p_c@mail.com.”
