2019 Around the Island Race Is A Go

IslandStats.com
The Bermuda Power Boat Association Executive have declared that the Annual Round the Island Power Boat Race is a (((GO))) for this Sunday, August 18th.

Commodore Robert Cardwell said, “The Race Director will have his final drivers briefing meeting at the Command tent at 12noon on race day.

There will be Zero tolerance for start line jumping. A jet ski with a raised flag is the start pace boat. Any race boat passing that Jet Ski whilst the flag is raised will be immediately disqualified for the RTI race and the 2020 race season.

Line Honors (first boat across the line) is back on the table and up for grabs, while also a Toilet Seat (last boat across the line) is also up for grabs if the first place position is not working out for you.

Cardwell had a message also for boaters and racers, “There is a lion fish tournament taking place. There will be divers participating in the event scattered down South Shore. We hope they mark themselves with buoys but in any event we ask our crash boats to identify and mark any divers on our course. Look out for both divers and crash boats a steer clear of both to avoid an accident.

Everyone has signed up to win! Racing will be contentious but overall it is our commitment and must be yours that all race tactics deployed shall be safe and contingency plans will have been thought about before engaging a tactic in the event it goes wrong.”
