The 2015 Around the Island Powerboat Race had a shaky start as there was a delay, when a racer was taken to the hospital before the race with a medical condition.
With the forecast calling for Winds South-South-West 8 to 12 knots, with Isolated Showers and the seas inside reefs 1 or less and outside the reef 3 to 5 feet spectators were lining the shore for a spectacular view.
Driver Steven Eversley and Co-Pilot Brandon Franks steered #1 Suspect to first in the D Class and First overall across the line clocking a time of 43.32.
The pair encountered a few challenges along the way, but nothing like Eversley endured earlier in the day, Eversley said, “I got up this morning and went around the island and I ran out of gas, but I never told my co-pilot, I just wanted to have a look at how I was going to race today.”
Franks said, “I was looking at the forecast last night and the way they was predicting the conditions I was a bit worried, but when I woke up this morning I knew it was going to be our day.”
Driver David Selley and Co-Pilot Jordan Fletcher took the line honors for the B Class when they crossed the line second overall, with Driver Ryan Davidage and Co-Pilot Andrew Osbourne finishing as the third boat overall across the line and second in the B Class.
Driver Shaki Easton and Co-Pilot Derek Seymour won the S Class.
