With the Round the Island Powerboat Race scheduled for this coming Sunday August 17th, www.islandstats.com will highlight the boats that have signed up for the event by Class.
As indicated last year the first boat across the line in each Class is declared the winner.
Today we start with the A Class.
Driver: Luke Parker Co Pilot: T.B.A Boat Number: A 5 Boat Make: Phantom Length of Boat: 16 feet Engine Type: Mercury 90hp – Modifications permitted
This year Luke Parker, who has been a part of the club for a few years now, will be driving his 16 foot Phantom powerboat powered by a modified Mercury 90hp engine. In past years Luke has always been very competitive in A Class, but last year he suffered with mechanical issues and placed third overall in class. This year Parker is determined to claim that number one spot and will be pushing his craft and abilities to do so.
Driver: Chris Warboys
Co Pilot: Steve Sherwin Boat Number: A 30 Boat Make: Ocke Mannerfelt – B19 Length of Boat: 19 feet Engine Type: Yamaha 90hp – Modifications permitted
After a few years away from the sport we now have Chris Warboys and his co-pilot Steve Sherwin back on the scene driving A 30. These two have been highly competitive this season and we look forward to having them as part of our race. They will be driving a lightweight 19 foot Ocke Mannerfelt B19 powerboat along with a modified Yamaha 90hp engine. The setup they have has been highly competitive this season and they will be pushing for that number one spot as well.
Driver: Cleveland Maybury
Co Pilot: Kweshon Woods-Hollis Boat Number: A 90 Boat Make: Crusader Length of Boat: 16 feet Engine Type: Yamaha 90hp – Modifications permitted
New to the A class scene we have Cleveland Maybury and his co-pilot Kweshon Woods-Hollis driving A 90. They will be piloting a Crusader 16 foot powerboat powered as well by a modified Yamaha 90hp engine. The boat they have been driving has won A class two years in row now and the weight will be on Cleveland’s shoulders to retain the title. They as well have been highly competitive this season and will be aiming for that number one spot.

Co Pilot: Gregory Simons Boat Number: A 98 Boat Make: Phantom Length of Boat: 16 feet Engine Type: Mercury 90hp – Modifications permitted
Gregory Focke and his Father will be racing their Phantom 16 foot powerboat powered by a modified Mercury 90hp engine in this years race. The pair have been racing for many years now and have been highly competitive all this season. Last year the pair placed second overall in A class just missing out on first place by two minutes. This year they are the currently first in season points as well as the national’s points. They have stepped up their efforts and will be pushing hard for the title.
