Brothers Tonka and Stacey Simpson powered FB55 across the line first in the 2012 Round-The-Island Powerboat Race.
The brothers clocked a time of 47:10 which is a new FB Class Record, Tonka Simpson said, “The conditions were great for us today, we had good speed going up the North Shore, when we was in town we hit a wave from a Ferry and almost lost it, but we managed to stay in control and bring it home.”
Stacey Simpson said, “I have confidence in my brothers ability and I knew we could come across the line first and that is what we did.”
Second across the line was Mackie Wilson and Graham Sutherland in D5, the pair clocked a time of 43:27, while Bobby DeCosta and Chris Wells was the third boat across the line clocking a time of 43:40, however they were not without incident, they were attempting to re-enter Ferry Reach through the pylons, however they hit a wave and loss control coming into contact with a pylon severely damaging the right side of the boat.
Anthony and Andy Stoneham set a New Course Record with a time of 33:35, they powered their boat S22 to the New Record. The Stoneham’s battled Steven Bridges and Aaron Sims in the S Class all the way around the island with Bridges and Sims the fifth boat across the line finishing ten second behind in 33:45.
Mark Selly and Jordan Every was next across the line in B707 clocking an overall time of 52:11, Shayne Furbert and Ryan Rebello powering E324 was the seventh boat across the line clocking 47:46.
Eighth across the start finish line were Quincy Dowling and Eric DeSilva in D441 the pair clocked 51:42, while Stephen and Ryan Davidge powering D33 was the ninth boat to cross the line clocking 52:50.
A77 powered by Tony and Jody Carreiro was the tenth boat to cross the line in a time of 1:08:20 and Shaki Easton and Derek Seymour in S7 was the eleventh boat across the line in a time of 47:00.
