Young Bermuda Sailors Conclude Orange Bowl Regatta

IslandStats.com
Bermuda's young sailing stars concluded competing at the 2024 Tuuci Orange Bowl International Youth Regatta in Florida, with sailors in the Snipes, ILCA 6, Optimist, and Green fleets.

Christian Ebbin joined forces with Caymanian sailor Matheo Capasso to compete in the 22-boat Snipes class. Unfortunately due to light air the Snipes did not compete, however after a late protest after Day One the pair moved up to 7th place with 18 points and that is how they finished.

Dylan Menzies, Bermuda's lone representative in the highly competitive ILCA 6 class, faced two more grueling races, bringing his total to ten for the series. Menzies held firm finishing in 38th place out of 96 boats, accumulating 229 net points.

In the massive 222-boat Optimist fleet, Benjamin DeCouto led the Bermuda contingent. After ten races, DeCouto finished 132nd place overall with 362 net points. Rex Henagulph finished in the 147th place with 447 net points, while Sean Pedro finished in 158th place.

Calypso Coulter (167th), Aaron Riker (173rd), Alfie Jansma (198th), and James DeCouto (199th) round out the Bermuda Optimist sailors, all gaining valuable experience against a world-class field.

Jacob Beale finished top of the Bermuda sailors leaderboard in the 72-boat Green Fleet, which is designed for less experienced sailors. After ten races, Beale finished in 38th place with 341 net points. Ethan Adelsberg finished in 45th place with 423 net points, and Hudson Pitcher finished in 46th with 426 Net Points, and Eamon Tiwari finished in 60th place with 502 Net Points.
