Rockal Evans was back in action competing in the Australian Finn Club Championship Series.
Racing got cut short due to a squall that hit the race track with a 30kts gust during the first race of the day. Only one race was completed, with Evans the only finisher.
During the race, Evans was in 3rd place when the squall hit near the top mark, the fleet was on its last downwind leg heading to the finish.
Evans said, “The visibility was bad due to the rain and to my surprise, I see the 2nd place Finn capsized, and then sailing along a little more I see the 1st place Finn capsized. Passing them I sailed in survival mode to the finish to take the win! I was also the only boat to finish the race.”
“This race bought back memories of me winning and being the only boat to finish the Edward Cross Long Distance Comet race,” concluded Evans.
