Smith Struggles after Long Wait on the Water in Peru

After Two Days and 2 and half hours of waiting Benn Smith finally heard the sound he had been looking for and that was the start of the Laser Class for the Pan American Games in Peru.
Although not the start he was looking for Smith who at one point trailed the fleet managed to work his way up the fleet and finish 16th.
Race two saw Smith struggle just a bit more, with boat speed not where he would have wanted it, but none the less he finished 19th.
Smith said following the race, “It was only the first day, we have 8 more races to get it together, I had great boat speed in the first race, but struggled in the second race.”
Smith after two races is in 19th place with 35 points.
