A total of 139 Optimist dinghy sailors from six countries gathered at the Royal Naval Dockyard to compete for Day One of the 2016 Colonial Bermuda National and Open Championships.
USA Sailors handled the blustery conditions best as they have claimed the first eight position on the leaderboard after four races.
Vanessa Lahrkamp leads with 12 points with finishes of 3rd, 4th, 3rd and second, Justin Callahan is second after recording two wins, but a 2nd and 9th place finish sees him with 13 points along with Javier Garcon who also recorded a win.
Bermuda’s Jordan Emedati leads the local Fleet after winning the fourth and final race of the day, Emedati is in 10th place with 54 points, while the Magnus Ringsted is the second Bermuda sailor currently in 13th with 63 points and Micah Thomas Raynor rounds out the top three Bermuda sailors, he sits in 15th with 72 points.
