Camille Chin-Gurret and Michael Wollman are presently in 10th place C420 North American Championship at Cabrilla Beach Yacht Club in California half way through the Championship.
Wollman fresh from watching his sister Ceci compete in the 2016 Rio Olympic Games and Chin-Gurret both 16 years old are already accomplished young sailors, Chin-Gurret was for two consecutive years top female Bermuda Optimist sailor and Wollmann has had top results in past sailing regattas in both Optimist and Laser sailing regattas.
Both have now aged out of Optimist sailing and are sailing in Lasers and now 420 classes. The C420 North American Championship is their first international championship sailing together.
The Championship has 35 boats from top sailors all over USA under 22 years old. The championship takes place over 4 days at the Cabrillo Beach Yacht Club and presently the two Bermudian sailors are in 10 place with two more days of racing. Leading in the points are Eduardo and Declan Mc Granahan from Florida USA.
The conditions have been ideal for sailing the C420's with winds between 10 to 13 knots with plenty of California sunshine and low chop. There are two more days of sailing.
