Countdown to IODA North American Championships
A week after reporting on Bermuda's young sailors competing in the Optimist Worlds Championship 2016 in Vilamoura, Portugal, www.islandstats.com will begin reporting on the young sailors who will compete in the IODA North American Championships.

The Bermuda team of Felix Cutler, Jordan Etemadi, Tayte Stefaniuk and Micah Thomas will be in action in Falmouth Harbour, Antigua where 144 sailors from 22 nations are competing.

“The typically strong and consistent Caribbean breezes should suit the size and skill set of this experienced team. All competed here at the same regatta in 2015 and are keen to improve on their results,” a spokesperson said.

“Tayte Stefaniuk was 15th last year and is looking for a top 5 placing this year in his last IODA event before he ages out.

“Jordan Etemadi has been Bermuda’s top international finisher this year [placing in the top half at the World Championship last week] and although smaller than the others, he has been steadily improving in the stronger conditions.

“Micah Thomas, Bermuda’s top finisher at the Jr Gold Cup is also at his last IODA event and is eager to post his best result. Rounding out the team is Felix Cutler, another top sailor for Bermuda who studies overseas and spends less time on the water but always proves himself at the right time.

“Coach Weber is optimistic about the team’s chances at this regatta.
