Chase Cooper and his Tabor Academy Sailing teammates enjoyed a dominating day at Avery point, beating three Connecticut schools in convincing fashion.
Tabor started quickly, jumping out to early leads in the first two races again Xavier HS. Race three started poorly, but Tabor dug deep into their bag of tricks and turned a losing combination on the first leg into a winning combination by mark 4.
Parker Loftus, Reagan Eyler, Tucker Hersam, Michael Collins, Steph Zou, Jack Corbett and Kat Mitchell provided the fire power for this win. Against host school Williams, Tabor continued to sail fast and smart, cruising to three straight wins. Cooper and Kyle Ferguson saw action in this meet with Collins, Zou, Corbett, and Mitchell. The highlight of the afternoon was a show down with #8 ranked Hotchkiss. As it turned out, Tabor were up to the challenge, defeating Hotchkiss in each race 1-2-3. “This was a bit of a surprise,” stated coach Hurd in his post–game press conference. “While I thought we would be competitive with Hotchkiss, I did not expect this result. I think it was a combination of us sailing very well and catching them at a down time. Regardless, I am very pleased with our efforts and actions. This is a great team win.”
