Day One of the J105 Invitational Regatta in the Great Sound, saw two races completed in a light Northerly Breeze.
In the Day’s first race saw International Skippers incharge, Morning Glory sailed by Jason Owen and Yabsta with Stewart Neff skippering lead out on the left side of the course, but Sadiiqi with Richard Mitchele in control quickly headed right into more pressure and led at the first mark, the trio maintained the lead to the bottom of the course.
The next lap of the course saw Mitchele successfully cover the competition to sail to the opening win, with Neff 2nd to Owen finished 3rd.
The Second Race put the Bermuda Skippers on display, the race got under way after the course was reset in the now more Easterly and Lighter breeze. Congestion at the start boat had two boats shut out and having to circle back to start. Morning Glory with Jon Corless skippering recovered from a poor start and was well placed after the first lap, with Chequemate skippered by Peter Bromby chasing hard. Coming down to the finish it was Corless managing to hold off Bromby, with Pete Ramsdale sailing Chequemate, finishing third and James Macdonald sailing Passion finished fourth.
