Jesse Kirkland and his Team MK recently returned back to America from Europe, looking to shake off some of the disappointment of their summer events.
Unfortunately Kayla McComb-Raab had injured her knee while in Finland, straining her MCL during one of teams many capsizes. Mayumi Roller sailed with a few Californian friends – Chris Segerblom, Judge Ryan, and Jake LaDow – while McComb-Raab focused on healing her knee with regular Physical Therapy appointments.
Although McComb-Raab wasn’t able to sail, it was still productive for Roller to get out on the water, and fortunately McComb-Raab was able to heal enough for our next leg of training in Saunderstown, Rhode Island.
We trained at Saunderstown Yacht club for another two weeks, and once again had the help of coach Kirkland. There was great breeze and beautiful conditions, and SYC definitely became one of our favorite places to sail! Not only is it a great venue for 49er sailing, everyone at SYC was so generous and accommodating to us!
