Eliminator in Newport-Bermuda Race

IslandStats.com
As the sun set over the Detroit River on a June night, the crew of Eliminator practiced for its biggest challenge yet, competing in the Newport to Bermuda race.

Boat captain Chris Van Tol will be joined by his father, Paul, who owns the boat along with Bruce VandeVusse. Also aboard will be Michael Hoey, Paul Rashid, Mike Rutledge, Greg Vaase and Harrison Richardson.

The Newport to Bermuda race is much different than the types of races in which Eliminator typically competes. Racing offshore introduces different water temperatures, currents and conditions that provide unpredictable challenges.

Veterans of more than 25 Bayview Mackinac races, the crew of Eliminator will try to guide one of the fleet's oldest and smallest boats through the waters of the Atlantic, knowing they are led by a skilled captain who has excelled internationally in the match racing circuit.

The Newport to Bermuda race starts in Rhode Island on June 20th.
