The Hinckley Company and Tripp Design have announced a collaboration, the result of which will be the thoroughly modern heir to the famed Bermuda 40, the Bermuda 50.
A drawing of this handsome used yacht is included here.
The company plans to launch the first boat next spring. Sailors who require a bit of luxury and a distinct competitive edge will find both in the Bermuda 50 in much the same way its predecessor, the William H. Tripp, Jr.-designed Bermuda 40 satisfied this dual purpose when it first came to life a half-century ago.
A hydraulic lifting keel for shoal water exploration, easy sail handling features, a roomy interior, dinghy storage and niceties such as a hideaway dodger will win hearts and minds when cruising the Bermuda 50.
Carbon fiber construction and the simple geometry of this modern rig make her well suited for competitive racing under IRC and ORR rules.
The Bermuda 50 will be competitive in a broad range of events from a regatta race week, to the 2016 Newport Bermuda Race, to arriving at the next anchorage a bit sooner.
The Hinckley Company has been a long-time supporter of the Newport Bermuda Race and is the Official Sponsor of the 2014 Captains Meeting.
