Day One of the Skandia Sail for Gold Regatta 2012 got underway at the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy. Bermuda’s Jesse and Zander Kirkland ended Day One of the 49er Fleet in 19th with 29 points.
The Kirklands who recently qualified for the Olympics continued their hot streak finishing the first race of the day in 4th, the pair then finished 7th in the second race before recording a 18th place finish in the final race of the day.
Dave Evans and Ed Powys from Great Britain lead the Fleet with 5 points after two wins and a third place finish, Nico Karth and Nikolaus Resch from Australia are in second and Pavle Kostov and Petar Cupac from Croatia are in third with 13 points.
