The 2012 Bermuda Optimist Dinghy Associations World's Trials got off to a flying start with near perfect sailing conditions on the western side of the Great Sound.

Southerly breezes from 14 - 18 knots kept the sailors on their toes near the Watford Bridge area with the beautiful backdrop of dozens of sailors competing in International Race Week to the east of the Opti course.

Officials were able to complete five races out of the twenty races scheduled over the next few weekends, The series will determine the five local sailors who will represent Bermuda at the 2012 IODA World Championships.

This year the World's will be held in Boca Chica, Dominican Republic on July 15th - 26th. Team Bermuda's Worlds team is sponsored by Aspen Insurance as Gold Sponsor and the Kitson Group of Companies as Silver Sponsor.
