The Roger Williams University Sailing team opened the 2011-12 season with strong performances at four different regattas, including a win at the Mount Hope Bay Invitational.
Bermuda sailors Haley Powell and Sean Bouchard competed in two of the Regattas.
At the Toni Deutsch Trophy hosted by MIT, Roger Williams captured fourth place on the strength of the performance by Jaye Fahey and Powell in the A Division. The two powered Roger Williams to the top spot in the division, winning five races, they also had four runner-up finishes among the 26 races. Rachel Perry and Alyssa Seifert would claim seventh place for RWU at B Division, finishing fifth or better in eight races.
At the Harry Anderson Intersectional Regatta hosted by Yale, Roger Williams finished in 13th place. Representing Roger Williams in the A Division were Bouchard, Kelly Stannard and Jake Bartlein, powering through to finish in ninth place with a win and two runners-up. Tyler Macdonald, Bianca Rom and Tyler Wilson finished 17th for RWU in the B division with a fourth and fifth place finish.
