With the 2011-12 season approaching, Sailing World has released its collegiate sailing preseason poll, Bermuda sailors Haley Powell, Cameron Pimentel and Sean Bouchard’s Roger Williams University Sailing team finds itself placed third in the nation according to the rankings.
Roger Williams received three first place votes and totaled 289 points, five behind second-place Georgetown University and 14 points behind first-place Boston College. The three votes ties for the third most received by a single team in the poll.
Roger Williams is coming off the most successful season in team history, with the Hawks receiving a first-place national ranking in the first time in the history of the program. In addition, the team earned berths to three of the six sailing national championships, including capturing the ICSA Team Racing National Championship for the first time in school history.
The team kicks off the season on the weekend of September 9th, most notably hosting the Mount Hope Bay Invitational.
