It took consistency, dedication, and a whole lot of great sailing, but Blake and Kyle Burgess’ Christchurch School's Varsity Sailing team came home with the Atlantic Coast Championship.
During the two day championship, the Christchurch sailors never lost the lead, winning first place in an astounding 10 of the 28 races against eighteen of the best sailing teams on the East Coast.
Competitors came from as far away as Georgia and Maine to take on Christchurch.
Though Christchurch were challenged throughout the competition, they finished ahead of our nearest competitors by 35 points, an incredible differential, and finished in the top six in approximately 88% of the races.
Representing Christchurch at the Toms River New Jersey venue were skippers Blake Burgess, Alex Whipple, and Eric Siegel, as well as Archer Ruffin, Kyle Burgess, Emily Bowman and Sam Keesee as crewmen.
