Today www.islandstats.com brings you a report of Bermuda Women Footballers, two scored on the day.
Mia Fishel
Mia Fishel and her Chelsea Women’s teammates had to come from behind and it took extra time to finish the job, but they started their defense of the Women's FA Cup with a deserved victory thanks to a trio of fine goals at West Ham.
Chelsea suffered an early setback when Viviane Asseyi gave the hosts the lead on 17 minutes. Chelsea kept pushing and found an equalizer midway through the second half thanks to a lovely strike by Fishel, who swiveled in the box before smashing a shot into the top corner. However, there would be no winner in 90 minutes, meaning this FA Cup tie went to extra time.
There was only one team in it for the additional 30 minutes though. Erin Cuthbert headed Chelsea into the lead at the back post from Johanna Rytting Kaneryd's cross and shortly afterward Sjoeke Nusken made the victory safe from close range following good work by Melanie Leupolz and Aggie Beever-Jones.
Kenni Thompson
New recruit Kenni Thompson made an immediate impression by netting a stunning goal on her debut in AFC Bournemouth’s 3 - 0 win over Swindon Town.
The 23-year-old Bermuda international was quickly in the thick of the action, teeing up Gemma McGuinness whose effort in the second minute was saved by Swindon goalkeeper Emily McGrogan.
Thompson showed her undoubted class when she finished with accuracy, drilling an unstoppable shot past McGrogan after Smith had rolled the ball invitingly into her path.
Kennesha Nanette
Kennesha Nanette was an unused substitute as her Cardiff Met WFC teammates went down 3 – 0 to Swansea in Welsh Premier Women’s League action.
Eva Frazzoni
Eva Frazzoni and A.F.C. Sudbury Ladies teammates went down 5– 3 to league leaders AFC Wimbledon in their F Women's Premier League game.
Aaliyah Nolan
Aaliyah Nolan and her Bradford City A.F.C Women’s teammates defeated Hartlepool United 2 – 0 in their North East Regional Women's Football League clash.
Zakhari Turner
Zakhari Turner and her River City Women’s & Girls teammates defeated Coalville Town 4 – 2 in Adult League Cup action.
