David Bascomes Baltimore Blast won their season opener at home edging Utica 8 7, at the Towson Arena.
Bascome and the Blast found themselves down 3 0 in the First Period, but Tony Donatelli pulled a goal back for the Blast to make it 3 1, however, Utica would add another goal to restore their three-goal lead. The Baltimore Blast had other thoughts as Jonatas Melo and Lucas Roque scored to have the Period end 4 3 with Utica leading.
The Baltimore Blast outscored Utica 2 1 in the Second Period to have the teams go to the break level at 5 5. Roque and Donatelli both scored a goal in the Period.
Donatelli scored the lone goal of the Third Period to complete his hat-trick and give the Baltimore Blast a 6 5 lead going into the Final Period.
In the Fourth Period, Roque completed his hat-trick with a goal to make it 7 5, after Utica pulled a goal back to make it 7 6, Melo gave the Baltimore Blast an 8 6 lead, Utica was able to pull a goal back to pull within one, but the Blast was able to shut the door and take home the win on the season opener.
