Baltimore Blast Game Called Off & Blast Players of the Week

IslandStats.com
In accordance with the MASL COVID-19 Protocols, the game between David Bascome’s Baltimore Blast and the Milwaukee Wave scheduled for Saturday, December 18 at the UW-Milwaukee Panther has been postponed.

Multiple players and staff from the Baltimore Blast organization have entered protocols after testing positive.

The rescheduled date has yet to be determined.

Meanwhile, the Major Arena Soccer League (MASL) announced the winners of the Week 3 Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week awards. Lucas Roque, offense and William Vanzela, defense, both of Bascome’s Baltimore Blast earned the honors.

Baltimore won back-to-back games this past weekend first against the visiting Milwaukee Wave and then away against Utica City FC.

Roque had four goals on the weekend, including the game winner in OT to beat Milwaukee. His power-play goal gave the Blast a 5-4 lead with 2:40 left to play in the fourth before Milwaukee tied it with 0:48 to go in regulation. In that same game, Vanzela stopped 12 of 17 shots keeping his team in it to push overtime and eventually capture the win.

Against Utica, Roque had a pair of assists, one being on the game-tying goal in the third and the second of six unanswered Blast goals to finish the game. Vanzela stopped 18 of 21 shots to secure the win once again.

The offensive and defensive players of the week are nominated and voted on by media and broadcasters covering the MASL.
