West Ham United could look to sell Nathan Trott this summer according to a report from club insiders Claret and Hugh.
That’s because the Hammers are actively seeking a new top-class goalkeeper to come in as a long-term replacement for Lukasz Fabianski.
And it seems as though Trott, 22, could make way.
The young stopper has great ability, but he is still yet to be tested at the very highest level.
Trott has made 60 appearances for West Ham’s under-23’s and has let in 97 goals whilst keeping 17 clean sheets in the process.
During a loan spell with AFC Wimbledon, the 22-year-old conceded 35 goals in 26 games and kept five clean sheets.
Claret and Hugh claim that Hammers boss David Moyes could move the young goalkeeper on from the London Stadium this summer in order to free up space for a top-class new stopper.
Selling the 22-year-old would be a shame. He undoubtedly possesses a lot of potential.
The problem with young goalkeepers is that you have to be very patient with them. It could be argued that they don’t reach their prime until around 28, 29, or even 30.
If West Ham were able to get a decent fee for Trott, it would be no surprise to see the owners move him on.
