An injury-time goal from Seiya Kambayashi saw Ben Gibson and his Manly United teammates defeated Northbridge 4 - 3 in a thrilling National Premier Leagues match at the Sydney United Sports Center.
With the scores tied 3-3 and time ticking down, Kambayashi found himself on the edge of the box and drilled the match-winner into the bottom corner of the net. The goal sparked scenes of wild jubilation on the United bench while Northbridge – who’d drawn level in the match three times – were understandably stunned.
Manly opened the scoring in the 22nd minute when a charging Scott Balderson finished a Dejan Pandurevic cross. In the 51st minute, Northbridge drew level before Pandurevic headed home a Luca Kmet cross.
Northbridge made it 2-2 before 17-year-old super-sub Gibson found space before laying off for James Georgaklis, who curled his shot into the top corner.
Northbridge equalized again in the 85th minute before Kambayshi’s finish ended the game in an emphatic fashion.
