NATHAN TROTT

Nathan Trott was not part of the West Ham United team as Jesse Lingard scored twice on his debut as they cruised past Aston Villa in the Premier League to strengthen their top-six hopes.

Manchester United loanee Lingard - making his first Premier League start in 13 months - netted West Ham's second with a thunderous effort after 56 minutes.

And the 28-year-old doubled his tally in the closing stages after Villa keeper Emiliano Martinez failed to hold on to his strike.

Midfielder Tomas Soucek had put the visitors in front at Villa Park, finishing off Said Benrahma's pass in the 51st minute.

NAHKI WELLS

Nahki Wells started on the bench, as Bristol City struck early but lost out to a battling Brentford at a chilly West London.

Zak Vyner put Bristol City ahead in the first half where they impressed under the Brentford Community Stadium lights.

But Brentford was level at half-time when Sergi Canos turned home before they turned the tie in the second half.

On the 50th minute mark, Ivan Toney steered the ball past Dan Bentley, before Saman Ghoddos pounced after hitting the post as Thomas Frank’s side went 3-1 ahead.

Dean Holden’s side wouldn’t give up and closed the gap when substitute Wells scored in stoppage time, but it was too late as Bristol City stay ninth in the Sky Bet Championship table.

Wells would get on the scoresheet after coming off the bench in the 72nd minute to make it a less comfortable end for the home side. Antoine Semenyo intercepted a pass deep inside the Bees’ half and he looked for Tyreeq Bakinson on the edge of the area. He was tackled but in doing so the ball was steered into the path of Wells, who kept his cool to put the ball into the back of the net.

AJANI BURCHALL

AFC Bournemouth who is currently in 6th place with 42 points in the Sky Bet Championship has parted company with manager Jason Tindall.

Tindall would be remembered as the coach that gave Ajani Burchall his first-ever first-team showing for Bournemouth.

A club statement reads:

“It is a decision which has not been taken lightly, given Tindall’s outstanding commitment to the club as a player, assistant manager and manager.

However, recent performances and results have fallen well below the board’s expectations.

We feel a change is needed now in order to give the club the best possible chance of achieving the goals that were clearly set out last summer.

We would like to place on record our thanks to Jason for his services to AFC Bournemouth over the past 22 years.

He is someone who is fondly thought of throughout the club, having played an important role in rescuing the club from its darkest days and taking it on the greatest journey it has ever had.”

Kenni Thompson

The Competition Judge decided to postpone Kenni Thompson and her Civitas Santa Teresa Badajoz teammates, Spanish Women’s First Division match against Sporting Club Huelva, due to six positive cases in the players of the Huelva squad and four in the coaching staff.
