Bermuda Boccia Coach Reflects

IslandStats.com
Yushae DeSilva-Andrade, Steve Wilson and Omar Hayward have concluded competing in the BISFed 2018 World Boccia Championships in England, with Bermuda’s coach noting that the “athletes have shown tremendous dedication to training” and “have shown they can certainly compete with the world’s best.”

It was yesterday that www.islandstats.com reported DeSilva-Andrade played her final game yesterday narrowly losing 3-2 to World Number 9 Nelson Fernandez from Portugal.

Bermuda Boccia Coach Troy Farnsworth said, “Yushae played some great Boccia and was unlucky not to come away with the win. Unfortunately none of our players progressed to round of 16. However our players have shown they can certainly compete with the world’s best.”

“Many of the games they played were close and other countries are now taking note of Bermuda. I am very proud of our performance as the athletes have shown tremendous dedication to training in the lead up to this competition - training 15 hours a week - and the hard work is paying off,” continued Farnsworth.

Farnsworth concluded, “I am also extremely grateful to all volunteers who help train our athletes on a weekly basis and those who work behind the scenes to coordinate getting our athletes to competitions. I would also like the thank the Bermuda Paralympic Association for their support in assisting our team compete at this major competition.”
