Rai Simons and his Chesterfield teammates started their Reserve League Season in style as Ricky German scored both goals in a 2-0 win away to Grimsby Town.
Teenage striker German - who scored a hat-trick for the youth team last week - scored the first after 35 minutes when he converted a one-on-one opportunity.
The striker then grabbed his and his side's second on the hour mark as he tapped home after an initial Chesterfield shot was blocked.
Speaking after the game coach Ritchie Humphreys was happy with the positive start from his team: "We had a young side out, with plenty of young pros and YTS players having the chance to move along with more experience.
"It was really pleasing to get a win to start the campaign and to do it away from home makes it all the more satisfying."
