Reggie Lambe Scored IslandStats.com Nahki Wells – Huddersfield
Nahki Wells sat out the Huddersfield Season Opener as Kasey Palmer made an instant impact in senior football as Huddersfield ended their opening day hoodoo with a 2-1 victory over Brentford.
Winger Palmer, on a season-long loan from Chelsea, had only been on the field a matter of seconds when he pounced to snatch the three points.
Palmer, 19, kept his cool when Dan Bentley saved from Rajiv van La Parra and slotted home a 79th minute winner.
Huddersfield, who had lost their last eight opening day fixtures at second tier level, had gone ahead through another debutant, Elias Kachunga, five minutes after the break.
They failed to capitalize and allowed Brentford back into the game when another substitute, Nico Yennaris, levelled in the 77th minute.
Milan Butterfield - Walsall
Milan Butterfield was not in the Walsall team as they debut goals from Erhun Oztumer and Simeon Jackson earned Walsall a comfortable 3-1 opening-day win over newly-promoted AFC Wimbledon.
Rai Simons Chesterfield
Rai Simons came on in the 64th minute as striker Ched Evans scored on debut for Chesterfield as they came from a half-time deficit to claim a 1-1 draw away at Oxford United on Sky Bet League 1 opening day.
Reggie Lambe – Carlisle
Reggie Lambe’s manager Keith Curle handed debuts to five of his new signings for the trip to face promotion favorites Portsmouth on the opening day and his new-look charges had to play for close to 70 minutes with just ten men following an early dismissal for wide man Jamie Devitt.
Carlisle stunned the sell-out home crowd into silence on the quarter hour when Shaun Miller put a lovely touch onto a Jones clip. Lambe showed pace and poise as he left everyone in his wake. His first touch carved the back line open and his second left Forde with no chance as he calmly found the bottom corner.
