Wells Set to Miss Season Opener
Bermuda International and Huddersfield Town leading scorer Nahki Wells will miss the start of Huddersfield Town’s Championship campaign.

The 26-year-old frontman is nursing a knee problem and head coach David Wagner has confirmed from Austria that his 18-goal marksman is out of training for the next two weeks.

That means he will miss the final pre-season friendly against FC Ingolstadt in Austria on Friday and, more importantly, the opening Championship clash with Brentford at the John Smith’s Stadium a week on Saturday.

That’s a massive blow to Town, who had £1.3m signing Wells in their line-up on 47 occasions last season.

“Nahki is a question mark and we should not rush him – we have to make sure he will help us over the season,” said Wagner, whose side drew 0-0 with Werder Bremen with Wells watching from the stands.

“Unfortunately he is out for two weeks from training with the group but, at the end of the day it’s only two weeks in a 10-month season. It’s nothing.”

Wells played in the opening friendly at Guiseley and two behind-closed-doors games against Accrington Stanley and Rochdale but was not involved at Oldham or against Liverpool, ahead of the training camp in Austria.
