 www.islandstats.com can report that the CFU Club Championship Groups Stages Schedule has been unveiled and the Bermuda Football Association 2014/15 Premier Division Champions Somerset Trojans are in the Draw.
A meeting between Montego Bay United (Jamaica) and holder Central FC (Trinidad & Tobago) will highlight preliminary-round play in the 2016 Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Club Championship after the groups and schedule were announced.
The CFU revealed that 14 clubs from eight member associations including Bermuda entered the competition that will open with a preliminary round consisting of two four-team groups and two three-team groups. The four group winners will advance to the final round, which will be contested at a single location April 29th – May 1st, utilizing a semifinal, third-place match and final format.
The schedule sees the Somerset Trojans heading to Port-au-Prince, Haiti in February for Group 2 actions against host Don Bosco on February 24th and then they will face La Gauloise on February 26th.
The two finalists and third-place match winner will earn berths to the 2016/17 Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League.
