Wells Could Lead Huddersfield Boxing Day Attack

IslandStats.com
David Wagner has hinted Nahki Wells could be spearheading Huddersfield Town’s attack against Preston North End as he looks for a more clinical striking edge.

The head coach was pleased with Wells’ contribution as a second-half substitute at Brentford – where goals came from Joe Lolley and Kyle Dempsey (Wells had an assist) – and may unleash him from the start against Simon Grayson’s visitors.

Changes could be on the way as Ishmael Miller and skipper Mark Hudson are battling niggling injuries, while Jonathan Hogg, Emyr Huws and Phil Billing are available again for midfield.

“Being clinical is one of the things we have to work on,” admitted Wagner, who is working a first season of his career without a winter break.

“You could say we’ve scored eight goals in six games, which isn’t bad, but we could have scored 16 so, of course, it could be better.

“Scoring goals is the most difficult part of the game – this is why strikers get the most money! – and while it’s important for me that we are creating chances, we have to take more of them.”
