Wells & Huddrsfield Win - Simons & Chesterfield Go Down

IslandStats.com
NAHKI WELLS

Nahki Wells and his Huddersfield Town teammates finally enjoyed some home comforts as they eased to a 2-0 success over Rotherham in the Sky Bet Championship.

Huddersfield had lost their last four games at the John Smith's Stadium but there was little danger of a fifth in this Yorkshire derby as they won it through goals from Mustapha Carayol and Ismael Miller.

Carayol sent in a 25-yard screamer in the first half and the game was made safe in the final 20 minutes when Miller who replaced Wells at half time raced clear.

The win gives Huddersfield Town boss David Wagner a first home success and his side some breathing space above the drop zone.

RAI SIMONS

Walsall won a penalty shoot-out 5-3 after extra-time following a goalless second-round replay with Rai Simons’ Chesterfield to earn a clash against their former manager Dean Smith at Brentford.

Simons was an unused substitute in the match.

Sadly for Chesterfield, skipper Sam Morsy was the only player to miss a spot-kick, firing over the crossbar when Walsall were 2-1 ahead, and defender Paul Downing hit the fifth penalty to clinch it for the home side.

It had been a disappointing match with neither side offering much threat in front of goal, the closest Walsall came to winning it before the shoot-out was when substitute Kieron Morris hit the bar six minutes from the end of extra-time.
