Parfitt-Williams Learning from Payet & Lanzini

IslandStats.com
Djair Parfitt-Williams spoke of the impact West Ham starlets Dimitri Payet and Manuel Lanzini have had on the young winger since their arrival in the summer.

The Bermudian-born forward, who plays in the same position as the attacking duo, has enjoyed training alongside two of the newest Hammers’ heroes.

Speaking ahead of his journey to the south coast to face Brighton & Hove Albion, the nineteen year old said, “Dimitri Payet and Manuel Lanzini have been real good for the first team, I watch Dimitri during the games and see what he does and then try and emulate that.

“It’s good to see someone as good as him, up close in training, he’s amazing.”

Just like his first team counterparts, Parfitt-Williams is hoping to inspire his side to victory when the Dev Squad play the Seagulls.

Despite a 2-0 defeat to Fulham last game out, the explosive forward is confident his side can bounce back: “Training has been really good recently, we’ve been working on getting the ball into wide areas quickly, getting good crosses in, working on quick passing and pressing.

“Everybody has been doing well so we’re in good shape.

“I think we’re really close to turning our performances into points, just look at the Wolverhampton game we were untouchable. We won 4-0 and they didn’t even come close.”

While the Hammers haven’t played Brighton at first team or U21 level in several seasons, Parfitt-Williams has fond memories of scoring against the seasiders.

“They pass the ball well, they have a good understanding of the game and some very good individual players. I’m expecting their Under 21s will be just the same.

“I want to score as many goals as I can as well as create a lot of them too. I haven’t scored yet but I’m sure it’s coming soon. I just want to be the best player I can be. I know for a fact that if I play to my best, that’ll bring me a lot of joy.”
