Robinson Answers Islandstats Questions

IslandStats.com
Following Bermuda’s 1 – 0 win on Wednesday during the CFU Women’s Under 20 World Cup Qualifiers, www.islandstats.com asked Bermuda National Coach Naquita Robinson a few questions.

Q. Now that you have had a chance to reflect on the opening game, how confident are you that the team could advance?

A.
After reflecting on the opening win and analyzing the game confidence is high among coaching staff an‎d players. We will watch the Haiti Puerto Rico game tonight and I have warned the players that the game is played on the day on the field. Regardless of tonight's result we still have a job to do. Of course a victory for Haiti tonight means we go through automatically.

Q. Without a Women's League presently in Bermuda, would you say it has been a challenge to keep the girls involved?

A.
Not having any League beyond Under 14 is a problem. We have lost many players because of the gap between the Under 14 and the Women. Of course having a League makes it easier when preparing for tournaments. However our biggest challenge is having so many overseas players. This is a good challenge however especially the players playing in school. The club players aren't playing as much as we would like.

Q. If the host win tonight, does your strategy change for Sundays match?

‎A.
Should the host win tonight it will change our strategy slightly as we have K'Shaela Burch Waldron is sitting on a yellow card and if she picks up a second one on Sunday she will be ineligible for the Semi-Final match.

Q. Are there any injury concerns?

A.
We have minor injury concerns. The girls were spent yesterday. We are not where we need to be physically but we are better than we have been.

Q. How are you and the team finding the conditions in Haiti?

A.
A few girls have slight colds, the conditions are good. 12 of the 20 players have been to Haiti before so they understand the conditions. ‎
