RAI SIMONS

Blackpool registered their first win at a sparsely-populated Bloomfield Road since January 31st with a 2-0 triumph over Rai Simons and his Chesterfield teammates.

Mark Cullen got them off to a flying start before Brad Potts doubled the lead after the break, as Chesterfield ended September after picking just one League One point in the month.

Blackpool snatched a second minute lead after Jack Redshaw miscued from six yards and Cullen poked home from close range.

Cullen almost scored a second after a surging run down the left in the 19th minute but was denied one-on-one by Tommy Lee.

Ollie Banks had a couple of chances for Chesterfield after 26 minutes, curling a shot over the bar before heading wide from six yards.

Chesterfield’s top scorer Sam Morsy threatened in the 62nd minute with a dipping shot from 25 yards but it fell inches wide.

Blackpool scored again on 67 minutes after John Herron cleared Liam O'Neil's header off the line.

The home side struck on the counter and Potts lashed home from 12 yards.

Simons made his way into the game in the 72nd minute.

REGGIE LAMBE

Ryan Tafazolli and Jack Thomas struck in space of five second-half minutes to hand Reggie Lambe and his Mansfield Town teammates a 2-0 win in League Two and extend Stevenage's losing run to three games.

Brian Jensen kept the hosts out inside two minutes, palming away Tom Conlon's goal-bound diving header.

A quiet first half then burst into life in the final six minutes when teenager Thomas stung the palms of Jesse Joronen and Malvind Benning blasted over the Stevenage crossbar.

Mansfield were ahead just two minutes after the break when Tafazolli rose highest to meet Adam Chapman's corner and power a header past Joronen.

They swiftly doubled that lead after a quick free-kick allowed Craig Westcarr to look up and square for Thomas, who fired into the roof of the net.

Stevenage striker Tom Hitchcock escaped with a booking after a nasty challenge on Nicky Hunt on the hour mark, while Joronen denied Matt Green when he was clean through on goal.

But the hosts rarely threatened to stage a fightback and slipped to their first home defeat since the opening day of the season.
