Hopes and dreams were dashed at the National Sports Center as Bermuda bowed out of the 2018 Russia FIFA World Cup CONCACAF Qualifiers going down to Guatemala 1 – 0.
Bermuda made two changes to their starting line up with first leg captain Freddy Hall and Tyrell Burgess making way for Dale Eve and Drewonde Bascome.
Bermuda’s Line-up: Dale Eve, Jaylon Bather, Jalen Harvey, Tre Ming, Drewonde Bascome (Tyrell Burgess), Zeiko Lewis, Dante Leverock, Keishen Bean, Reggie Lambe, Jonte Smith (Rai Simons), Damon Ming (Angelo Simmons), Guatemala’s Line Up: Elias Prera, Wilson Salvatierra, Moises Moralez, Jean Orellana (Brandon Ramos), Jose Contreras, Marco Ponce, Stefano Giordano (Carlos Del Cid), Marvin Sanchez, Carlos Gutierrez (Minor Campollo), Ricardo Figueroa, Jorge Grijalva
Giordano scored the lone goal of the game helping Guatemala to progress to third round of CONCACAF World Cup qualifying.
With the tie even after a scoreless draw in the first leg in Guatemala, it was Giordano's goal that proved the difference between the two evenly matched sides.
The Chemnitzer FC defender scored in the 27th minute, with a low shot to the right of Bermuda’s goalkeeper Eve and inside the far post.
