BFA Rules Are Made To Be Broken

IslandStats.com
Apparently rules in the Bermuda Football Association (BFA) are made to be broken on the inside when it benefits clubs persons are affiliated with.

Words around clubs in recent weeks have grown ever more loudly as BFA Executives attempt to sort out several things that have gone wrong.

The latest is the fiasco created from the match between the Somerset Eagles and BAA which was scheduled for White Hill Field on Sunday March 15th.

Word reaching Islandstats.com was that the Somerset Eagles wrote to the BFA asking for their game to be switched to Wednesday night at the Somerset Cricket Club, Somerset Eagles had sought permission and got approval from the Somerset Cricket Club to play the match on Wednesday night, however the BFA declined the request stating that the request was made to late, and when questioned on what basis the request was denied the club received no correspondence.

During the Devonshire Colts – Boulevard Blazers match on the same Sunday many fans were making remarks such as Somerset Eagles was doing former player/coach Kenny Thompson’s BAA a favor, however that was not the truth.

People are comparing the fact that the Dandy Town Hornets were able to switch their game on Sunday March 1st against Hamilton Parish from the St. John’s Field to BAA Field on the morning of the game with the permission of the BFA, why would Somerset Eagles request ten days before a match be denied.

Now onto this weekend, according to the BFA’s website BAA have been given the three points from Sundays match with Somerset Eagles, however no notice of such has been corresponded to the media to confirm the fact so that it could be conveyed to the public.

Boulevard Blazers the League Leaders travel to White Hill to play the Somerset Eagles this coming Sunday the Final League Matches of the season in the First Division and second place Devonshire Colts are at home to St. David’s, if either team slip up BAA with a win over Young Men Social Club at Bernard Park could be promoted because of a decision made in the boardroom, however as the story goes this is not the first time this has happened and it won’t be the last.

Now another dilemma facing the Bermuda Football Association is the final Premier Division games of the season, the Flanagan’s Onions some time ago when the schedule was changed expressed to the Bermuda Football Association that they planed a tour on the dates that the matches were moved too, as been stated over and over again by the General Secretary, “THE FINAL LEAGUE MATCHES IN THE DIVISION MUST BE ALL PLAYED ON THE SAME DATE AND THE SAME TIME ON THE LAST DAY OF THE SEASON”.

However now many are watching because this has an effect on the Premier Division Title, with Flanagan’s Onions away, the Dandy Town Hornets will be awarded three points, this would lift them level with the Somerset Trojans, who on the final day of the season face the Southampton Rangers at the Somerset Cricket Club, a win by default for the Dandy Town Hornets would give them a 3-0 win and a plus 7 goal difference and a 1 – 0 loss to Southampton Rangers by the Somerset Trojans would see the Dandy Town Hornets lift the title without kicking a ball on the final day of the season.

The other way to look at it is that the games are moved, here is where the rules are for the benefit of the Association and not a club. Scenario, there are only so many night fields to play games, are rules then changed to allow certain teams to play on Sunday and others to play one another day?

There is no secret that people involved in the Association look out for the benefit of the club in which they are affiliated with, however others need to keep reminding people that the decisions reflect the entire Football family.
