The Bermuda Women’s National Team head coach Naquita Robinson knows all about a struggle, when she learned of Olivia Burgess’ struggles she sat down with her team and talked about how they could assist a former footballer.
Robinson and her team have made Burgess an Honorary Member of the Women’s National Team and presented the 11 year old a Jersey to prove just that.
Robinson said, “We have been raising funds for the Women’s Programme through a Car Wash and other Fund Raisers, we will be having a Tag Day on Saturday and part of the proceeds will go to Burgess as she attempts to start a support group for young people going through Medical Trauma.
Burgess’ mother Traci said, “Olivia has spent most of her life dealing with various medical conditions including a severe case of Systemic Onset Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis (SoJRA). JRA is a childhood disease that affects the joints, and an overlap of Paediatric Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE).”
Burgess planned for the support group to have a parent side, while Olivia hoped that the children would do fun activities together.
